George Pratt House (1886)
308 North Kenilworth Avenue
This example of the "Stick" design is painted in detail rivaling the best of the Victorians. The Stick design followed from the development of the "balloon frame" in the 1870's. The skeleton of the house, though unseen, is refelcted in the vertical and horizontal wood trim strips. The siding is clapboard shingles cut in a variety of shapes, such as fish scale, diamond and herringbone.
